A Hull Extension can be added to your vessel to achieve many things such as;
- having a longer waterline will improve your vessels fuel consumption.
- little to no trim tab needed.
- no way water comes over the duck board even under full deceleration.
- you will have a larger amount of storage.
- at anchor no more thumping as a wave rolls into the stern, plus reduced slapping under the Chines.
- it will improve the speed of the vessel.
- to make sure your vessel looks its best we will use a boat designer to design the extension.
A word from one of our very happy Customers after having an extension on his Maritimo 60.
Apart from overall dramatically improved feeling of the boat, the fuel consumption is significantly changed, particularly at lower speeds. There is a more steady increase in fuel consumption as revs rise now than what there used to be. Data shows fuel savings of 30% to 40% in the low range reducing to 10% savings at the top end.
Trim tabs operate most efficiently at around 20% which compares to the previous tabs at 80%. Take into account that they are now a third shorter and reduced travel, I would guess that this would equate to a 5% to 10% tab had you left the original tabs as was, so a perfect setup. The wave is significantly lower and very smooth and rolls over whereas before it broke very close to the stern.
The whole attitude of the boat is totally different. There is no way water comes over the duck board even under full deceleration. And at anchor, no more thumping as a wave rolls into the stern, plus reduced slapping under the chines – still get some obviously forward.
At 700 rpm normal idle, doing just over 8kn. Almost impossible to tell when she gets on the plane as there is no appreciable lift. At anything over 1500/1600 revs I would guess the attitude at around 3deg to 4deg max, taking the bottom of the flybridge windows as a reference point.
All in all a great result with a huge amount of storage being the bonus.
Thanks for a great job!
